You can enjoy fishing in the Amelia Lake located in Virginia inside the Amelia Wildlife Management spread in 100 acres of area. The lake is pretty much owned by the Department of Inland fisheries. The area is in close proximity to the Richmond so that various recreational activities like boating and fishing can be enjoyed easily.
It is well managed for providing fresh warm water in the large water mouth bass channel comprising of various fish like redear sunfish, bluegill, black crappie, and catfish. As there are many largemouth bass so catching small fish for anglers is slightly pricey. But it’s good for angler beginners.
The lake is located when you travel on 360 towards the State Route North 604. The lake has plenty of fishing opportunities. As the densities of fish in the lake is high, affecting the growth of the fish in the lake due to lack of food and resources which limit the system. As there are many small fish in the area so the largemouth population exists in disorganized state. The size limiting restriction on the Amelia was removed few years before to increase more harvest and also encourage various bass numbers. Presently the lake does not have any size limit in place.
In the Lake, there is channel Catfish are stocked each year but limited catfish fishery still exists.
Beaver Creek Reservoir is another place having supplies water for the Crozet region available just for sea fishing as many fishermen like the place and commercial too. This is manmade lake covering 173 acres and has 1.3 billion gallons of water. This place has fishing, boating, leisure places and picnic places at the shore. But this is maintained besides the urban water supply system is operated by the Sewer authority. It is 104-acre water reservoir. Earlier the reservoir provided good angling for various fish species like the channel catfish, bluegill etc.
Besides only the fishing opportunities the anglers also come to the place to have glimpse of breathtaking views of Blue Ridge Mountains, rolling terrain, forested shoreline. The views of the place are great and hence many tourists visit the place with abundant fish having low pressure.
Beaver Creek is perfect for deep sea fishing place to spend entire day in beautiful location and enjoy the recreational activities. If you planning outdoors here then soon pack your fishing rods, nets, bring boats, pets, lunch to have merry. As the lake serves drinking source for Martinsville city so the boats used are non gasoline.
Many recreational activities are open for visitors from sunrise to sunset. If you are going hardcore fishing activities then renting the equipment like life jackets and Canoes for using in reservoir can be useful.
